Online Information Sessions on the XIII World Urban Forum
Dates: 18, 19 and 20 February 2026
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the Online Information Sessions dedicated to the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 17 to 22 May 2026 under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.”
Convened by UN-Habitat, the World Urban Forum is the premier global platform on sustainable urbanization, bringing together governments, academia, the private sector, local authorities, civil society, and international organizations to advance the implementation of the New Urban Agenda through inclusive, evidence-based, and people-centered approaches.
In response to requests from the embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan abroad, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture (SCUPA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company have jointly initiated a series of dedicated information sessions. These sessions are organized in close coordination with UN-Habitat and aim to ensure early, structured, and inclusive international engagement in the WUF13 preparatory process.
Through this coordinated outreach effort, Azerbaijan’s embassies abroad, in collaboration with the embassies of partner countries accredited to Azerbaijan, will serve as key platforms for engagement, facilitating stakeholder-driven dialogue and promoting meaningful participation in WUF13.
Objectives
The session aims to strategically position international stakeholders for effective engagement in WUF13 by:
- Presenting the WUF13 vision, thematic priorities, structure, and expected legacy outcomes
- Introducing available participation formats, including Assemblies, Roundtables, WUF Academy and Urban Expo
- Highlighting engagement opportunities in the lead up to WUF13, notably through the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign (ACU2026) and Baku Urban Week (11-17 May 2026)
